Customer Reviews [17]

Sarah 2026
Villa du Château is an exceptional place to stay. Great communication from Claire, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful, stress-free stay.

The accommodation is exceptional: very spacious, with plenty of different areas to sit and relax, all with ample seating. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and having two fridge-freezers was a real blessing.

The pool area is large and very private, and the BBQ kitchen was perfect for evening meals. The views from the terrace are beautiful, providing a stunning backdrop for breakfast as well as for evenings, when the sun goes down and the colours change across the landscape.

There is a medium-sized supermarket just a 5-minute drive away, and lots of little shops are only a few minutes’ walk away.

We were a group of 11 and had a fantastic week. I would highly recommend visiting the castle and the Thursday evening food market in July and August (bring cash), as it was a really lovely experience.

James 2026
Our family rented Villa du Château for four weeks, from late spring into summer.

We chose it for its thoughtful yet understated blend of traditional French country style and the kind of amenities and facilities an international visitor looks for: easy access to village life, essential household supplies, excellent bathrooms and bedrooms, a beautiful swimming pool, and lovely gardens.

From the moment our booking was confirmed, we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism by our host, who is wonderfully attentive and experienced.

Claire genuinely cares about her guests, and her attitude, her team, and the way she presents this home made us feel welcomed and appreciated from the very beginning, in such a natural and effortless way that we immediately felt at home.

The fact that Villa du Château was once part of the magnificent château that overlooks the village, and now sits adjacent to it, is difficult to describe. It is truly something special.

We left with wonderful memories and a deep sense of gratitude toward Claire and the people of Duras.

Karen 2026
We had a wonderful stay at Villa du Château.

The location was excellent—peaceful and quiet, with breathtaking views in every direction. The interiors were charming, and the kitchen was exceptionally well equipped with everything we could possibly need.

The views were spectacular, and we especially enjoyed having breakfast outside in the sunshine every morning. The property is also ideally located, with cafés and bars just a short walk away, and a supermarket only a few minutes’ drive away.

Claire met us just a few minutes from the property to make sure we found it easily. He gave us a very warm welcome and took the time to show us around the house, which we really appreciated.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay in a truly beautiful setting and would happily return.

Adrien 2025
Villa du Château is simply exceptional.

This beautifully restored listed historic home has been renovated with great care and offers an outstanding level of comfort and amenities.

A special mention goes to the pool area and outdoor summer kitchen, which are wonderfully designed and make it easy to spend the entire day outdoors—from breakfast and lunch to afternoon snacks and dinner—without ever needing to return to the main house.

The property enjoys a truly ideal location, just a two-minute walk from both the Château de Duras and the heart of the village, where you’ll find all the local shops and amenities, while still enjoying complete peace and quiet.

Claire’s recommendations, both before and during our stay, allowed us to make the most of both the house and the surrounding region.

Rose 2025
Villa du Château exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed, and Claire’s warm hospitality made us feel at home straight away.

What makes this place truly unique is the perfect balance it offers. You wake up to breathtaking countryside views, complete peace and quiet, yet within just a couple of minutes’ walk you’re in the heart of Duras, with its castle, cafés, restaurants, markets and local shops.

The house itself is absolutely stunning—beautifully restored, full of character, incredibly spacious and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Whether you’re relaxing by the private pool, enjoying long meals in the outdoor kitchen, watching the sunset from the terrace, or gathering with family and friends in one of the many living areas, every space invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment.

We were a multi-generational group, and everyone had an amazing time. Adults loved the peaceful setting and the nearby wineries and restaurants, teenagers enjoyed the lively atmosphere in the village, and the children had endless fun between the pool, the gardens and exploring the château.

It is rare to find a property that is both so tranquil and so close to everything. Whether you’re looking to relax, explore, celebrate with family, or simply experience the charm of southwest France, Villa du Château is the perfect place.

Without a doubt, one of the finest holiday homes we’ve ever stayed in—and somewhere we would return to in a heartbeat.

Vivienne 2025
Villa du Château was an excellent property, very central to the village.

It was well organised, with great bedrooms and linen, and the kitchen was well stocked with every cooking utensil you could need.

The pool was great and very private.

Claire, the owner, was on site to greet us, which was lovely.

We would highly recommend a holiday here.

Charlotte 2025
Villa du Château is quite spectacular and certainly has the wow factor from the interior, beautiful decor, views to the setting at the foot of the castle. It all felt very special.

We were a party of 13 adults but more than enough space as the layout and different areas of the house enabled us to spread around, almost making it difficult to choose where to spend most time! Sunsets from the terrace were stunning and colour changing castle good fun.

The house is super well equipped with everything you need. Kitchen gadgets and plenty of crockery – great for self catering as we did.

Ample parking and really easy access into the small town of Duras – walkable in a couple of minutes and everything else you might need a short drive away.

Mark 2025
We just spent the most incredible week at Villa du Château as a family of thirteen—seven adults and six children.

This outstanding property exceeded all our expectations; we truly could not have asked for more.

Before we arrived, Claire went above and beyond, answering our questions, providing helpful information, and connecting us with local services that made our stay even more special.

She gave us the warmest of welcomes and were always on hand to answer any questions throughout our stay.

The views in every direction were breathtaking, and the interior was equally beautiful. All amenities were within walking distance, including a handful of great cafés, bars, and convenience stores.

We had the best family holiday in the most exquisite surroundings. The children absolutely loved feeling like princes and princesses beneath the illuminated castle.

I highly recommend staying at Villa du Château—it’s exactly as advertised, and you won’t be disappointed.

We loved it and will definitely return.

Dana and Jean
If you like the charm of the old, you will be won over. We particularly appreciated the layout of the house and the exterior. The fact that the swimming pool is in the low garden creates both security but also that the house remains very calm when there is commotion at the swimming pool! We played the most memorable games of ping pong in the shade of the majestic cypress trees and the children spent hours illuminating the castle, the immediate proximity of which is magical.

France and Didier
An ideal place to spend a vacation with family or friends. The house is exposed in such a way that we have the sun all day with a view of the castle on one side and the valley on the other. The summer kitchen near the swimming pool allowed us to eat from morning to evening but we were also able to have breakfast in the courtyard with the rising sun and dinner on the terrace in the light of the setting sun. The house is very large and well equipped, the rooms are spacious and everything is tastefully decorated. We appreciated the proximity of the village, accessible on foot very quickly, but also discovering the region by car. A royal stay in a majestic place where we played the game of having an evening on the theme of “castle life”. It's your turn to play the squire.

You really feel like you're in a family home, which is what this house should be in my opinion. The children were very happy to discover a trunk full of toys and cuddly toys, disguises to pretend they were in the Middle Ages, tons of board games, books for young and old and DVDs. The house is made very pleasant by its layout which means that there can be many people while still preserving their privacy.
Finally, we enjoyed the breathtaking view every evening of the valley and in the morning waking up to the castle after going to get our croissants on foot. I also recommend the Monday morning market and the many attractions in the evening.

Duras... I love cooking, the kitchen is wonderful and the city's market place is perfect for organising the perfect dinner.. the perfect kitchen is ready to prepare the table... the outdoor patio... the splendid terrace with a view of the valley or a dip in the swimming pool whilst having a barbecue!

Our stay with friends in Duras in August 23 was exceptional thanks to this large house made for moments of sharing. Indeed the house is very spacious with sufficiently separate spaces for everyone to have different activities. Several differently exposed terraces allow you to enjoy the outdoors at various times of the day. Our children enjoyed the swimming pool as much as we did, the security system of which is very reassuring. The house remains cool despite the heat and its well-equipped kitchen allowed for real convivial moments preparing meals. Finally, the house is ideally located, in the very pleasant village and at the foot of the magnificent castle. An enchanted parenthesis to share with family and friends.

Magnificent residence on the edge of the Château de Duras. Neat, tasteful decoration and very comfortable bedding. We spent very pleasant moments all day long around the swimming pool which has its own summer kitchen. Nice aperitifs on the terrace with a splendid view of the cypresses at sunset. Walking distance to the center and all shops. We loved it and really hope to come back.

My recent stay at this charming villa in Duras this summer, was nothing short of exceptional.
Accommodation: This lovely and very comfortable villa has a rustic charm and a very tasteful decor. Our rooms were cozy and spacious, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Whether we were lounging along the swimming pool, in the beautifully landscaped garden, or sipping Rosé on the terrace as the sun set over the vineyards, or cooking in a very pleasant and well equipped kitchen, every moment felt like a blissful escape. The attention to detail in every aspect of the villa created an ambiance of warmth and relaxation that was truly
unparalleled.
Location: The village and the castle of Duras are simply enchanting. Everything is at a waking distance and Duras offers a lot of fun activities : visit of the castle, genuinely impressive medieval jousts., light and sounds spectacles explaining the long and fascinating history of the region projected on the walls of the castle, group hikes in nature, tastings of local (and delicious) food. At night, the village organizes concerts where dancing is more than encouraged! And the traditional open air market is a wonderful experience. There was always something new and fun to discover.
I cannot recommend this beautiful gem highly enough and look forward to returning again this summer!

Héloïse, Paris - 2023.
I fell under the spell of this beautiful, atypical residence. Its proximity to the Duras castle gives it a magical touch... There is all the necessary comfort for visitors and the bedding is quality. On one side of the residence, breathtaking view of the beautiful swimming pool and the valley and on the other side, magical view of the castle fortifications. I will not reveal any more and leave the pleasure to the next visitors of discovering the other little treasures that this house hides. The village of Duras is typical of small provincial towns with its beautiful and colorful local market. In the evenings, very good festive atmosphere.

We had an excellent stay in this historic residence, the former orangery of the castle built on the 14th century ramparts. In addition to the charm of the house, it is very well organized around different spaces which increase the diversity of experiences. Whether with family or friends, everyone has their own space while offering lots of conviviality.
The house is very well equipped, from ping pong to raclette, including a kitchen with lots of appliances. The bedding is comfortable..
Finally, the place is both a haven of peace and its direct proximity to the village and its many summer activities make it a unique place.
