The most tranquil spot to spend a holiday next to a perfect pool, eating, drinking and relaxing. Stunning house and gardens, we didn't want to leave.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maison Gounou (August 2025). There were seven of us from the same extended family, aged from thirteen to sixty-two, plus two small dogs. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how quiet and peaceful the location was, which coming from south London was a real blessing. Although the house is situated on a small road, passing cars were extremely rare. We met some of the local neighbours when out dog walking, and they were pleasant and friendly. The house is beautiful and comfortable, very picturesque with a large gravelled driveway for several cars. We could close the iron gates to keep the dogs inside, which was useful. The pool was exceptionally clean, very refreshing and well maintained. The kitchen was equipped with plenty of pots of pans for large-scale cooking, including many le Creuset dishes. The rooms were spacious, the bedrooms comfortable, with plenty of bathrooms and toilets for everyone. Bedding was changed half way through our two-week visit. The surrounding area is full of old bastide towns with markets and medieval buildings, outdoor evening dining events, medieval fairs, artisan shops . Although it was thriving, nowhere felt too busy or stressful. We found lots of places to eat including a lovely restaurant in Monpazier (Privilege du Perigord) that served a tasty three-course lunch for 23 euros. Highlights of the stay: peace and tranquillity, ability to let go and relax. Lovely veranda to sit and read/relax/fall asleep, lots of books to look at, lovely sitting room. More than enough space for seven people and two dogs. Lovely local towns to stroll around.
We have just returned from a very successful holiday in Villa Bellara. We were seven (incl two children) in week one and two for most of week two. We were certainly comfortable. The villa is situated in a quiet residential road, so no problems with early morning noise! It is about eight minutes walk from an excellent patisserie for buying croissants etc for breakfast, with an excellent fruit shop opposite. A supermarket is a little further, but easily reached. The beach is about 12 minutes walk. Access to other locations is simple via Cagnes station, (eg Nice or Cannes) and there is a free bus to Cagnes en Haut which is well worth a visit. The property is excellently maintained, the kitchen equipment first class and well thought out. There is a splendid terrace overlooking the pool, with an awning over the dining table which seated us all comfortably. In the evening, the small garden has under lighters under the trees and at midnight, sprays raise up from the grass to water it. The garden, though small, is well maintained, with hedges all round making it very private. We had a most enjoyable, memorable holiday.
Thank you so much for your hospitality this last week. Staying at the Loft du Vigneron is more a 5-star hotel experience than a typical rental property! We loved sitting out on the terrace at all times of the day and there were so many little touches that made staying here such a pleasure. You are great hosts - discrete yet friendly and so helpful when required. As for activities in the area, we particularly enjoyed Lastours and the Friday night pop-up tapas bar at the château. All the best for your new venture - we're sure it will be a great success!
Thank you for sharing your lovely house and garden at Maison Charvin. We spent our time climbing to Médiéval castles, cycling along the Canal du Midi and white-water rafting in the Aude River ! Every day we started by wandering around the lovely village before venturing out on an adventure. If you have children, there is a really good football pitch down by the rugby club. We also really enjoyed 'Abyss on tour' on our fist night here. A wonderful holiday!
We had a very enjoyable stay in Nézignan and thought the property was first class.
Thank you for making Domaine de Nérige such a beautiful place to stay in, it was a fabulous time had by all. Fantastic weather, food and fun. We never wanted to leave and didn't except to fill the fridge. I hope to return with more friends and family if I can and share the experience with them. Until the next time.
Thank you for sharing your fantastic home with us. Perfect location and layout of the house, with a great outside bathing area to watch the sunsets with a glass of wine. Laprade not to be missed. If you are prepared to drive a little further Issigeac (Noth East of Eymet) worth a visit with a good selection of bars, shops and restaurants. Big thanks to Olivia, always on hand to help. We’ve just returned from a marvellous fortnight at Maison Charvin. Having been annual visitors to France for rather more years than I now care to remember I can honestly say this is one of the best houses we’ve stayed in. As well as being full of French character and ideally located for exploring the delights of Carcassonne and the surrounding area, the house itself is absolutely immaculate with so many thoughtful touches – from two lovely bottles of wine to welcome us to a first aid kit in the bathroom and a sewing kit in the kitchen drawer. And as for the kitchen, well, it’s a cook’s dream. Our youngest daughter is an avid cook and she was delighted to be surrounded by every utensil she could think of including decent kitchen knives. The courtyard garden is beautiful – the jasmine and oleander were in bloom while we were staying and the fragrance in the evenings was beautiful! The pool, meanwhile, was well loved and well used by everyone. Montlaur itself is very pretty. We loved the market and live music on Tuesday evenings – a great jazz band played the first week and a fabulous blues band the second. Vins de Dagne was lovely for supper and Aurelian, the owner was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable when it came to recommendations for wine. History lovers will appreciate the rich Cathar history of the wider region and a visit to Lagrasse, just down the road, is a must. And last, but not least, Sharon, the owner, is just lovely. So friendly and ready to help with anything at the drop of a hat. All in all, a wonderful two weeks and I do hope we can return.
After a cool and wet start, we have enjoyed a lovely sunny week exploring the area around this charming and well-appointed cottage. Even ventured a dip in the pristine pool! Thank you Caterina, Steve and Bennie.
An exceptional setting. On a business trip for 3 days, I discovered very pleasant accommodation and two magnificent people. Thanks again to David and Kirstie for their welcome and kindness. I will not fail to recommend this pretty and pleasant house whether for a business trip or to come and rest with the family.
We stayed at Villa La Baronne for a week in early October. We were blessed with good weather and the surrounding area is beautiful and historically very interesting. As for the property itself, Villa La Baronne offers every possible amenity a guest might wish for. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The living areas are spacious and inviting. Outside the garden is lovely and has ample space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The swimming pool is of a great size and in cooler temperatures it is heated. We had a lovely time and the hosts were exceptional. Can't recommend this villa enough. Book it while you can!

If you are looking for calm in a peaceful environment, Le Mas de Combet is for that! it is very well equipped, nothing missing! a huge and well maintained lot with this very friendly view of a small lake and the forest . the terrace with its large pergola is ideal for resting or having a drink . we enjoyed the large swimming pool with its summer kitchen. hosts are exceptionally kind and welcoming . we recommend without hesitation.

We've had another wonderful stay at Laserre gite. It has been our 3rd stay here and we love the gite, the surrounding views, the pretty villages and lots of good restaurants. Pete and Kate have been superb hosts and we could not have asked for anything more. We will be back next July.
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and above all cozy villa. Very tastefully and comfortably furnished. The beautiful vintage cuisine is a highlight. The bathrooms were also very stylish and spacious. The large garden on several floors is dreamy. Especially when the many flowers bloom. The mountain views were magnificent and an absolute haven of peace compared to noisy and busy city life at home. The manager Sophie is a very enjoyable and friendly person! Very accommodating and always available. Thank you so much! We will be back!!!

A beautiful fun filled 7 days in this amazing house. Thank you. Equipped for all 8 of us. Kids swam everyday, favourite game of the week. Dads throwing balls high/low/long and making the biggest splash. Parents enjoying evening games of scrabble over a few too many. Lots of towns and markets visited. We plan to back back to make even more memories. Thank you.

Great house, wonderful weather, lovely city. We loved the pool, the bike ride along the Canal du Midi, we enjoyed having space in a rented house. The decoration of the house is very well done and we feel very relaxed now.
