It's hard to know where to start with this wonderful home, the inside and outside are so special its impossible to choose a 'best bit'! I didn't know this part of France at all and whilst it was a wonderful discovery, the château itself stands head and shoulders above its surroundings (literally) with his jaw dropping views. 360 degrees of rolling hills, almost no building in sight and just the sheep and their charming bells the only signs of neighbours. The pictures simply can't do it justice. The house itself is extremely luxurious in its proportions and furnishings. The main difference to other holiday homes is that it is so evidently a comfortable home. We had one rainy day on our trip and the excuse to be inside for the evening with the fire and comfortable sofa's was a great treat. The mixed accommodation is wonderful, with the farm house next to the château and the two charming cottages in the grounds. Very much one for a gang of friends or large family. The owners provide some brilliant suggestions on what to do when venturing further afield - should you want to! But there seem to be endless possibilities, in our brief 10 days we discovered so much and feel we could happily come back every year for 10 years and still be finding new spots. The castle at Foix is an absolute must for children and for adults, if you don't want to go parachuting after your market trip to beautiful Mirepoix the Michelin restaurant 8 minutes away in Camon is a must. But equally with the tennis court, heated pool, choice of terraces to eat on, chapel, lake and boat it would be entirely possible to spend a happy week going no where at all. Perhaps apart from a trip down the drive to Olivier and Marielle's informal shop. Heaven.

You really feel like you're in a family home, which is what this house should be in my opinion. The children were very happy to discover a trunk full of toys and cuddly toys, disguises to pretend they were in the Middle Ages, tons of board games, books for young and old and DVDs. The house is made very pleasant by its layout which means that there can be many people while still preserving their privacy. Finally, we enjoyed the breathtaking view every evening of the valley and in the morning waking up to the castle after going to get our croissants on foot. I also recommend the Monday morning market and the many attractions in the evening.
The owners are fantastic hosts! Always available and attentive. The house is just like the photos and ideal for a family retreat. We spent an unforgettable week there and experienced moments forever engraved in our memories.
As we drive north towards home we are reflecting over so many happy memories during this past week. Your beautiful home so full of character and comfort certainly made all the difference to our holiday. We loved it so much I am almost embarrassed to say we only ventured out once for a half day outing (to the lake!). We were all so happy just to be around the pool. We took full advantage of everything you offered... nightly boules, both upper terraces, BBQs, table tennis, the gorgeous private patio outside our room and all that the pool area had to offer etc etc. Dave loved Sonos (but never roused Alexa) and the path along the canal for him to run on... and the challenge of the gates which were fine in the end. The three grandchildren, 2½, 14 months and 5 months loved it all. In fact the one year old took her first steps in your front garden! It was a very special holiday for us all and we just wanted to say a huge thank you for opening your home to us.

Thank you so much Isabelle for letting us stay in your gorgeous house in Bordeaux. The house is huge and beautifully finished. It feels both luxurious and like a comfortable family home. Caroline made us feel very welcome and we really appreciated the grocery shop on arrival with several hungry children in tow. The pool was such a hit, especially when the weather got really hot. The area is stunning too. We will be back!
Great house, wonderful weather, lovely city. We loved the pool, the bike ride along the Canal du Midi, we enjoyed having space in a rented house. The decoration of the house is very well done and we feel very relaxed now.

What a gorgeous week we've had here ! Annie and John have been so welcoming - inviting us for a much-needed glass of wine on our arrival. Not to mention all the helpgul local knowledge and information. We have loved the pool, sunshine and glorious garden. We would recommend the lovely Piglet Barn and Annie and John especially. The property was absolutely ideal. We stayed here in July/August 2025 for 2 week and had a perfect multi-generation holiday here, with 12 of us ranging in age from 5 to 76. – spacious enough for us to all be together when we wanted, yet with plenty of room to spread out and relax, play board games, or just enjoy some quiet time. The house is extremely well equipped and thoughtfully set up for larger groups. It’s refreshing to stay in a place that understands what big groups need – more than enough plates, mugs, glasses, and plenty of seating inside and out. The pool was fantastic – spotlessly clean and enjoyed by everyone, every day. A special mention must go to Michelle, the wonderful lady who looks after the property. She was amazing – warm, helpful, and quick to resolve the two very minor issues we had. She also gave us some excellent local recommendations. The location is lovely and secluded, which does mean you need to drive for shops or activities, but honestly, the property is so large and comfortable that you don’t feel the need to leave often. We did enjoy a few outings – kayaking on the Dordogne, dinners out, and day trips – but we were always happy to return “home.” All in all, this house feels like a cross between a welcoming home and an upmarket hotel. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for our family holiday and would highly recommend it.
This is an amazing home where you can enjoy the utterly relaxed vacation. It is spacious, nicely decorated, well equipped and beautifully located. The pool , the pergola the kitchen and the bathrooms … everything is of a high standard and make the house feel like a proper home . 10 out 10.
This is the second visit to Maison Baleyssagues and one year of our best ever holidays. We have already booked for next year.

We loved our stay at this lovely Domaine, Today is our last day, and we’re leaving in pain. We really had the nicest time, Especially our cozy get-togethers with lots of good wine. The days have flown by, but there’s no need to cry, We will always remember Karen’s wonderful pie.

Lovely spacious house, at the edge of a village. Beautiful pool area and pool house with shaded eating area. Excellent bathrooms and spacious modern shower facilities. Useful utility area. Lovely quiet setting. Good shop in next village, 4 miles away but bread machine just near property. House was lovely and clean and excellent welcome from caretaker.
We loved Le Séchoir we have come home and booked for three weeks again next year. Positioned in the wooded hills above the village of Salviac. It's mixture of contemporary and old was perfect. The house is spacious and well equipped. Whilst the large swimming pool may seem remote from the house it is perfectly positioned for sun all day... that special last swim at the end of the day as the sunsets over the valley and the Rosé waits chilled!
Many thanks for making our stay so enjoyable. Charming house, full of space and activities to satisfy travelers of all ages. We also loved the bike paths, visiting San Sebastian and Biarritz and the beach. Nice to show the horses to the baby and to pick fresh raspberries and figs from the trees and bushes. Excellent place for the dog too. Michel the chef was pleasant and accommodating, allowing us to discover the local cuisine. We will be back!
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! This is a beautiful property - perfectly set up for our family with a secluded pool area that makes you feel in the middle of the nature. Thanks especially to Meichelle - you were above and beyond by providing the most fantastic tractor for our nearly 2 year old to ride around the property - hours of entertainment for him and walkout for us! In fact it was brilliantly set up for children in general - incredibly thoughtful and well-catered for. We hope this will be the first of many visits!
Beautiful house - everything you could possibly need for a totally carefree and relaxing holiday. We loved it so much here we only ventured away from the property for 2 half days. An amazing week of relaxation. Spent a fantastic week at Château Velouse. Located in a tiny village the château is just a short drive from lots of interesting locations in the Loire valley. Château Velouse has everything you need for a relaxing week - beautiful bedrooms, lovely outdoor pool, barbeque and al fresco dining area and lovely dining room and lounge. We chose to self-catering but there are options to hire in a chef to prepare meals for your group. There was also lots of information in the château guide about other tailored services that were available such as wine tours. Claire and Phil made sure that everything was perfect for our stay and recommended places to visit.
