This is a beautiful property and it is well taken care of. We had everything we could possibly think of to enjoy an amazing weekend with family. I imagine this estate as a perfect venue for anything from a group holiday to a wedding. We would definitely stay again.
The chteau is beautiful. Great house for our group of 10 adults and 8 children. lots of room for all of us to be comfortable. Amazing pool and lovely grounds. Kitchen is well equipped.. It is an old property and is well lived in but that isn’t a problem.
What can I say, we’ve had the loveliest fortnight at Maison Charvin. Just the loveliest house, perfectly equipped, a cook’s heaven. Downside? Almost none. Biting insects were a bit of an issue, but we found Picosa insect repellent from the Intermarché in Capendu worked really well. (Get the one with “tiger mosquito” on the label). Vins de Dagne was great for dinner. Service a bit slow on our first visit but a fabulous last-night meal on our final night. Local supermarket in the village was closed during our stay, but the Intermarché in Capendu is only 10-15 minutes and there’s a nice baker in Lagrasse. (Could also order from Vins de Dagne, but we never really got our act together). We’d love to return, à bientôt!
It is early spring. My husband and I decide to go to the South of France for a fortnight. Our eye has fallen on La Picholine. It is in the Gard region and close to nice places. Like Uzès, Nîmes, Avignon. What a surprising place on arrival. Two enthusiastic owners, proudly showing off their new domaine. There are two gîtes. A large swimming pool, several terraces and expansive views. Our gîte is very comfortable. Spacious living room with dining kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped. Bedroom is very spacious with good mattresses. Large bathroom with two sinks. As it can be quite chilly in the evening in spring, this cottage has a wood-burning stove with hot air conditioning. It is comfortably warm then. The garden is tastefully decorated. You have your own privacy and that choice is nice. We had a lovely two weeks here and will definitely come back next year. We stayed in this amazing house for a couple of weeks - 4 couples, with kids left home! The place is really hard to describe because it is so much more than we expected. Also the photos don't quite do it justice (especially the outdoors pics). It is a huge house, with several levels. All the bedrooms bar one are on one upper floor. The other bedroom (that we stayed in) is accessible on the side of the building and has a lovely little terrace with a small table and chairs. Perfect for taking in the sun or simply relaxing. I did do a bit of work there. On the lower level is the huge kitchen, big dining area with a really cool table that makes entertaining fun and loads of interesting living areas each individual and stylishly decorated. All in all it is a big place where it is easy to spend time with friends and be sociable, or retreat to one of the cosy, quirky but fantastic living spaces for me-time. We weren't quite sure what we would do there for 2 weeks as it seemed a little remote, but it is SO relaxing and welcoming we spent the first week just staying put and enjoying it. The swimming pool is great and I did my lengths every morning. The area just beyond the pool is great in the evening for a drink (or many more). The bedrooms are really special. Big and very well appointed. Comfortable beds and interesting bathrooms (ours had a built-in bath). The owner Fred is super friendly and accommodating. We were welcomed by him and his partner and to our surprise the fridge was filled with local produce and there was also some wine and fresh bread left for us! Great surprise and even better after the long drive down! For shopping we went to the closest town and there were 2 large supermarkets there as well as the usual bakeries/butchers etc. The area is very beautiful. The mountains are stunning and we found some really lovely villages to explore. We had a great dinner one night in Sauve. Really cute village well worth exploring. We ate on a square high up overlooking the river below. I could go on and on. The place has so much charm and is so well appointed, we could have stayed for longer. We have amazing memories and special thanks to Fred for having created this small piece of paradise.
Truly wonderful holiday. We had a truly fabulous 12 night stay in Château Limousin. We were 3 families comprising of 6 adults and 8 children (from 3 to 9 years old). The château and its grounds including the large gated pool are extremely well maintained and everything you could want. The owners were very nice people and extremely welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyable holiday... we’d all highly recommend it.
Such a beautiful house! Had a lovely relaxing holiday. Visited Sarlat, Bergerac and Périgueux - would recommend Sunday morning market in Aubeterre. Will miss waking up to the sound of the countryside.

This is the ideal destination for an outdoorsy type holiday. The walking is superb and the scenery is magnificent. It is, quite frankly, a bit of a wrench to be leaving.
We returned to La Charmante Distillerie in July 2025 for three weeks after the most fantastic stay last year - and it felt just as special, if not more so, the second time around. Mark and Gary have created something truly memorable here: a place that strikes the perfect balance that is beautifully designed and endlessly comfortable, peaceful without being remote and thoughtful in all the ways that matter. Everything is designed to help you slow down and properly switch off. Our daughters, 13 and 15, instantly settled back into their favourite rhythm - hours in the pool, relaxing in the snug, making jewellery outdoors and enjoying the freedom the setting creates. And we did the same— café and a book in the early morning sun, long lunches and quiet evenings with a cocktail or two, followed by some stunning late-night stargazing. One of the real joys of returning was being able to explore the surrounding communes a little more, expertly guided by Mark and Gary’s thoughtful suggestions. From stunning local restaurants and distilleries, night food markets, artisanal crafts in Aubeterre, fascinating visits to beautiful Templar churches and an unforgettable day at the Bassins des Lumières in Bordeaux. Every recommendation was exactly what we didn’t know we were looking for. It made the whole experience feel richer and more connected. What once again made this visit even more meaningful was having Mark and Gary as hosts. They are the kindest, most generous and genuine couple. It’s rare to find a place that gets under your skin in the best possible way - but La Charmante Distillerie has done exactly that. Returning felt like coming home and we left feeling recharged, grateful and already planning our visit next year….....if Mark and Gary will have us. Its also hard not to repeat what we said after our first visit in 2024: we’d love to keep this our own little secret… but that wouldn’t be fair. It really is the perfect destination with the perfect hosts.
Jean and Martyn have created a wonderful place to come for a relaxing holiday. The house is really well equipped with everything you need. Providing 3 fridges was a brilliant idea and the house had great Wi-Fi! The pool was spotless and warm and the pool area was lovely- just across from the house, but not overlooked. The gardens are beautiful and the outside patio and kitchen were fab. We loved the short stroll to the village for bread. It’s a wonderful location. Highly recommended.
Very relaxing. Wonderful venue. Would have no hesitation recommending this magnificent château to friends and family. Hosts very knowledgeable and took time to recommend places to visit. A very beautiful home. Glad we got to experience it. Wonderful setting.

Very sad to leave after a fantastic stay at Château du Pic de Rigaud. Fantastic location, amazing historic villages all close by. This is by far the cleanest property we have stayed in over the past 20 years visiting France - thanks to Henrietta and Peter. Pool was also the best we have had - only recommendation is a toilet closer to the pool!! We would love to return some day!
If you like the charm of the old, you will be won over. We particularly appreciated the layout of the house and the exterior. The fact that the swimming pool is in the low garden creates both security but also that the house remains very calm when there is commotion at the swimming pool! We played the most memorable games of ping pong in the shade of the majestic cypress trees and the children spent hours illuminating the castle, the immediate proximity of which is magical.
We absolutely loved being here. The home you’ve created is a beautiful entity, with such thought at every turn, and the surrounding gardens have a tremendous sense of peace. Thank you for all the well-planned details, and the delicious tart that awaited us (and therefore an introduction to the most incredible boulangerie!). We leave with a filled-up nourishment, and hope we can come back. Wishing you both a peaceful and joyful year.
Beautiful house, beautiful setting and wonderful location! We’ve had an amazing two weeks here and have loved both days here around the pool and some day trips out - Le Franqui beach, Carcassonne and our boys particularly enjoyed Lac’cro Park and the dinosaur museum at Esperaza. Thanks to Nathalie and Mike for always being on hand to help and answer any questions and for being so welcoming. We don’t want to leave!
We had an excellent stay, the house corresponds in all respects to the ad. The view is magnificent.
We booked Château Velouse as we love the Loire region. Definitely not disappointed... the welcome from the hosts Claire and Phil was lovely, the rooms were huge in size and height, great ensuites, it can hold 16 adults plus 4 children. Loads of space in the extensive grounds which are walled and fenced, we felt very secure and great for children and our dog to explore. The large swimming pool was fantastic and spent a lot of time there lounging on luxury sun beds under the umbrellas (30C plus during our stay). We had some wonderful evening meals during our stay either outside patio area which seated us all with lovely lighting or inside in the huge dining room. As a group of family and friends we took turns to cook which was great fun and the kitchen is very well equipped to cater for a large group. We had trips out to Bourges, Sancerre and a day on a local golf course, all recommended
A very friendly welcome. The place is very quiet while allowing visits to tourist sites. The kitchen is very well equipped. We enjoyed discovering the family history (which manages the nearby Napoleon Museum).

Another amazing stay at Maison Baleyssagues where we were very warmly hosted by Frédéric and his team. Such a peaceful location, sitting proudly on the hill top with panaramic views. Very spacious gardens topped with a beautiful pool and it’s own water fountain. Inside the villa nothing is left to chance with a fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable bedrooms. Looking at the pictures only tell half the story, it’s a superb place, if you don’t book early you’ll miss your chance as this place is always full, I wonder why?
We had a wonderful holiday, thank you! It is such a beautiful part of France. We realised we had stayed in a house just the other side of Lauzerte about 7 years ago in the days before children and we could drive around in a soft top! The house has been so nicely done and the arrangement worked really well for us as a family. The view was out of this world! And we loved having the auberge round the corner. We may well be back!

We had a fantastic 2 week holiday in this beautiful house with amazing surroundings! We visited several picturesque villages. Spent some lovely days and evenings around the pool and BBQ's. Totally relaxing!
We stayed at Villa La Baronne for a week in early October. We were blessed with good weather and the surrounding area is beautiful and historically very interesting. As for the property itself, Villa La Baronne offers every possible amenity a guest might wish for. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The living areas are spacious and inviting. Outside the garden is lovely and has ample space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The swimming pool is of a great size and in cooler temperatures it is heated. We had a lovely time and the hosts were exceptional. Can't recommend this villa enough. Book it while you can!
