We were not too familiar with the region, but since we live in a highly fast-paced city, we knew we wanted a tranquil and somewhat less-touristy vacation spot surrounded by nature. Through an amazing agency, we were able to lease the cottage for two weeks in late August and had an amazing time there. The property dates back to 1750 and is fully well-renovated - every detail has been taken into consideration so one is able to enjoy the experience of staying in an authentic French country house, but with modern amenities that enhance the original character of the property, rather than detract from it. The town and the people are very charming and there are restaurants, cafés, a grocery store, shops, butcher shops, etc. and an excellent choice of patisseries and boulangeries, which my husband happily frequented every morning in order to bring back fresh breakfast goodies! There is a weekly market in the town square, just a 5-minute drive from the house selling amazing produce and other artisanal delights! The town is within a comfortable drive from beautiful sites in neighboring Beynac, Sarlat and Bergerac, not counting other small picturesque places you find on the way. And if you haven't done much research, fret not because the owners of the home have compiled quite an impressive binder of information with all of the popular attractions and must-see places in the area. I do not over-exaggerate when I say the house is extremely well-equipped as if it were our own home! When we were not out sightseeing during the morning, we were downstairs preparing food in the kitchen, which may seem small in the photos, but it is spacious and the layout is wonderful - the oven and stove are ideal for seasoned cooks, there is a full-size dishwasher and tons of pots, pans, utensils, gadgets and appliances - all in superb condition, so we wanted for nothing. Overall, we had an excellent stay at Maison Bourg Cales, which I would highly recommend to anyone in search of an idyllic, quiet getaway in the beautiful French countryside.
I cannot say how much I love this amazing old stone farmhouse; it has been so immaculately restored and is both stylish and supremely comfortable. The gardens are beautiful (what a fantastic collection of Salvias) and the infinity pool, with its view over the surrounding countryside, is a dream ( both for proper swimming of lengths and for sunbathing). I could spend all day here. It is lovely to have a choice of outdoor eating areas for long lunches or relaxing dinners. I love the fact the there are lots of delightful historic Bastide towns within easy driving distance, both for historical sightseeing , fabulous food markets and outstanding restaurants (Auberge Le Prieure at Moirax being my personal favourite !) I have visited the house three times now and each visit has been magic.
We had a lovely time at your house, we really like Pézenas and the surrounding area. The house itself was superb and very well equipped, we and our 18, 20 and 21 year old children were very happy. Being able to enjoy the shops and restaurants in Pézenas then wander back to the tranquillity of the house made for a great holiday.
Stayed at this villa in June 2024. It has been finished to an exacting standard, and is open and airy. The views are spectacular. Everything you need for a relaxing stay - plenty of areas outside to either soak up the rays or sit in the shade. The alfresco dining area was used all day. The owners have left their paintings and sculptures in the house which gives is a very unique feel. It's incredible, will return in 2025!
Fantastic barn conversion, amazing location and wonderful facilities including a large swimming pool. Would highly recommend. The owner was super helpful throughout. The local villages have all the shops and services needed. We loved the rolling hills for jogging.

Fabulous house accommodating everyone in comfort, superb location and fantastic views. The family particularly enjoyed the warm pool and al fresco dining. Lorraine who greeted us was super friendly and helpful, responding quickly when we had questions. Highly recommend this property

A lovely week celebrating multiple 50th birthdays with 4 school friends and their families. We loved the pool and all the space.
The apartment is incredibly cool and offers a breathtaking view from the large balcony. The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful, which suited us very well. We will definitely go back. It is good to know that there is no grocery store in the immediate vicinity. It is recommended to have a car if you do not choose to do your daily exercise in connection with your purchases. :)

Your phenomenal standards of taste, quality and style are equally matched by your meticulous understanding of your holiday guests' practical needs during their stay. We have experienced self-catering holidays in many areas of France for some four decades and, without doubt, you are in a premier league of your own! The warmth of your welcome and hospitality have all combined to create for us a truly wonderful holiday and Minervois experience. Fabulously 'well done' to both of you - and 'thank you!' We have just enjoyed one of our best holidays ever and your outstanding charm and conviviality have contributed so much. We had a pleasure of spending three days at La Petite Maison Générille and the biggest dissatisfaction with our stay is that it was just too short! La Petite Maison Générille is one of those rare places where you could see yourself easily spending an entire summer. We are definitely coming back! Where do I start... first of all, the place is immaculately clean and well-stocked: there was literally nothing that we needed and it wasn't available (and trust me we are very picky when it comes to holiday rentals). The kitchen has everything a family of four could possibly need; there are lots of wonderful new fluffy towels; the mattresses are comfortable and pillows are perfect; shower pressure was better than at our home. There's a big clean heated pool and a terrace with the most picturesque view that you just want to frame in your memory forever... And of course - the wonderful hosts! they know the area and set us up for a brilliant three-day programme that only whetted our appetites for coming back to Dordogne again and again. Thank you VERY much for a fabulous holiday! Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

We wished we had booked 3 weeks! We felt at home the moment we were treated by the lovely Julian and Pascal. Pool and garden amazing. Enjoyed the wildlife, red squirrels, birds etc. We enjoyed a surprise visit from our son Oliver. We had no idea and the pool!
This is a fabulous villa with wonderful, spacious and different spaces and areas to relax, perfect for big or family groups - the pool is wonderful. Everything has been thought of and the availability of bikes for all ages is excellent, especially when you’re so close to the canal du midi. The owners are very attentive and friendly and everything from the generous arrival treats, to the fabulous meal out (thank you!) to the morning pastries and bread is A1 and the top tips on wine and day trips is provided readily and all great suggestions. A lovely place and definitely somewhere you’ll want to return to.
Fabulous stay at Les Fumerates. Pool is 'top of the line'. Quiet villa high on a hillside. A few minutes walk from Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Everything is exactly as described. Highly recommended.

A wonderful holiday. We knew that we would be having a wonderful time at the Loft du Vigneron as soon as we received our first email from Russell and Karen containing an information pack for our holiday. Their attention to detail is second to none and they had thought of everything we might need to know. They also helped us with restaurant reservations for our time in the Minervois. When we arrived we were certainly not disappointed! The Loft is beautifully furnished, very comfortable and extremely well cared for and we had everything we could need for our stay. The rooms are spacious and luxurious and we enjoyed breakfasts, afternoons and evenings on the lovely terrace in the late September warmth. Rieux-Minervois is in an excellent position for exploring the local area, and the village boulangerie and supermarket are within walking distance of the Loft, which was great. Russell and Karen were excellent hosts - there to help if needed but not intruding at all on our privacy. We would definitely recommend The Loft!
We have really enjoyed our last week staying at Camirout. Our favourite places were Bergerac, Monpazier and the night market at Prayssas. All showcased the beautiful history of this area and exception food. The pool entertained the kids for hours. Many thanks. All our love Adams Family
We had a wonderful trip! The pictures cannot fully represent the beauty of the house, the pool and the hilltop setting with views over the river and the whole valley. The layout of the house worked very well for us, as each of our families had their own wing with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. We were grateful for the help with arranging chefs and babysitters (who were fantastic) and the hosts were proactive in making sure we had a great stay. The location is great too, as you are near a couple of cute towns with good bakeries and restaurants, close to Sarlat, Domme and La Roque-Gageac and centrally located for prehistoric caves, river trips, wineries, etc. We can't recommend this house enough!
We have just returned from Château des Dragons after a wonderful family holiday with seven adults and five children. On arrival at this historical château we were greeted by the owners who showed us around their magnificent château with its beautiful antique furniture. They had provided a Welcome Pack of local food delicacies and essentials. The rooms were generous in size and decorated in keeping with the period. The kitchen was fitted with modern appliances and provided everything you may need. The rear terrace sited a larger table where we could all dine together and also barbecue. The heated pool was a great success especially with the children. The extensive wooded grounds were perfect for exploring and playing games. A tranquil place to unwind.
A lovely house in a spectacular location. Thanks for a fabulous time in this amazing part of France. The surrounding scenery was spectacular - unforgettable views from the house and pool terrace. Everything we needed in the house and super pool area. Local shops and restaurants within walking distance were great. What a brilliant find!
Absolutely loved our stay at Le Séchoir Carme! It’s a fab barn conversion (decorated to a high spec) with lots of space inside and out. The pool is a great size too, if you want to get some lengths in! I would also recommend the night markets which are held in many local villages and are so much fun!
We had a lovely stay with 14 adults and 4 little ones (10 months - 3 years). For starters, the pool: big enough, seats for everyone and enough shadow. The patio: magnificent view, spacious, enough shadow under the big tree and a covered dining space with both a BBQ and a plancha where we had all our meals. The house: perfect to our needs. Bedrooms with space for beds for the kids, almost every room had a private bath room and more than enough space. We had two days with bad weather, no problem we split up in groups where one group could play one of the available board games and another one playing the available PS and another one playing together with the little ones. The kitchen had everything and there was an extra toilet for use during the day. On top of this, there was a nice pétanque range, ping pong table, pool table, basket ring with all supplies available, more than enough parking space (we had 7 cars).
Thank you Madeline and Alan for being the perfect hosts during our stay at the beautiful 'Camirout'. We had everything we needed for a fabulous stay! The house, grounds and pool are beautiful and it's just so peaceful here. Gavin had the perfect 'big birthday' here too so we will take back lots of wonderful memories of our stay with you. Thanks so much for our 'welcome basket' too! It was definitely welcome for our slightly more tardy than planned arrival. Many thanks again and good luck with everything.
After a two-year pause in our travel arrangements we couldn’t have been more delighted with our visit to the Loft du Vigneron. It was everything - and more - than we had hoped for. Thank you both for your generosity of conversation, wine and gin!!! Good luck with the next phase of Le Domaine aux Quat’Saisons, not that we think you will need it - quite simply, it is stunning.
I am writing to say what a wonderful time we had at Les Rocans during the week of 3th-10th August. It suited all our needs and we were amazed by the tranquility and beauty of the surroundings.
What a dreamy escape ! We loved every moment - so much calm and too much fun was had. What an incredible place.
