Beautiful villa, fabulous pool! We loved our stay in Maison de Saint-Jean. The villa is big, beautiful and cool (the weather was HOT!) and extremely well equipped. The beds, in particular, are super-comfy and we really appreciated the extra touches, like piles of big lizard-patterned pool towels (in addition to soft white bath towels for everyone), gorgeous soaps in the bathrooms and a huge range of kitchen equipment (including sharp knives - hurrah! - and a coffee machine). The pool is a good size (long enough to swim 'proper' lengths) and it was lovely to take a dip in soft, salt water, rather than the usual strong-smelling chlorine. Our teens loved the ping-pong table (and we loved that it was in the courtyard, out of earshot!), the massive bean bag, the great Wi-Fi connection and (face of shame) the BBC channels on the TV. The village restaurant (literally 15 paces away) is great - really friendly, nice food - and there a lots of other good places to eat in the towns nearby (once you've worked out which ones are closed on which days - every one is different!). Thoroughly recommend this villa - we honestly can't think of a single thing it's missing - and the truly beautiful French landscape all around it.
I loved being here for two weeks and being able to use the pool nearly everyday! I haven’t swum recently so it was a great chance to practice. I enjoyed spending time with you and my family in the sun. I hope I can see you soon.
What a pleasure we had spending a week full of sunshine in your magnificent villa! Four adults, eight children... and everyone found what they were looking for. Dear host, Thank you - we had a very nice stay in the holiday house! The beaches nearby and all the nice, old cities are all very worth to be explored. All in one - it was a wonderful stay for the kids and us.

We echo the comments of your previous guests in your beautiful home and garden. It was a long wait before we finally got here but so worth it. So many vinyards, so many châteaux, so little time. One of our lasting memories is standing in the middle of the Loire river on the riverbed. We hope the river returns soon.

We are extremely delighted with this stay. Everything was perfect, we didn't miss anything. The estate is a charming place to visit, with very beautiful walks to take. We were able to benefit from their advice on activities and attractions nearby. The swimming pool is a plus. We returned to La Charmante Distillerie in July 2025 for three weeks after the most fantastic stay last year - and it felt just as special, if not more so, the second time around. Mark and Gary have created something truly memorable here: a place that strikes the perfect balance that is beautifully designed and endlessly comfortable, peaceful without being remote and thoughtful in all the ways that matter. Everything is designed to help you slow down and properly switch off. Our daughters, 13 and 15, instantly settled back into their favourite rhythm - hours in the pool, relaxing in the snug, making jewellery outdoors and enjoying the freedom the setting creates. And we did the same— café and a book in the early morning sun, long lunches and quiet evenings with a cocktail or two, followed by some stunning late-night stargazing. One of the real joys of returning was being able to explore the surrounding communes a little more, expertly guided by Mark and Gary’s thoughtful suggestions. From stunning local restaurants and distilleries, night food markets, artisanal crafts in Aubeterre, fascinating visits to beautiful Templar churches and an unforgettable day at the Bassins des Lumières in Bordeaux. Every recommendation was exactly what we didn’t know we were looking for. It made the whole experience feel richer and more connected. What once again made this visit even more meaningful was having Mark and Gary as hosts. They are the kindest, most generous and genuine couple. It’s rare to find a place that gets under your skin in the best possible way - but La Charmante Distillerie has done exactly that. Returning felt like coming home and we left feeling recharged, grateful and already planning our visit next year….....if Mark and Gary will have us. Its also hard not to repeat what we said after our first visit in 2024: we’d love to keep this our own little secret… but that wouldn’t be fair. It really is the perfect destination with the perfect hosts.
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and above all cozy villa. Very tastefully and comfortably furnished. The beautiful vintage cuisine is a highlight. The bathrooms were also very stylish and spacious. The large garden on several floors is dreamy. Especially when the many flowers bloom. The mountain views were magnificent and an absolute haven of peace compared to noisy and busy city life at home. The manager Sophie is a very enjoyable and friendly person! Very accommodating and always available. Thank you so much! We will be back!!!
The house is stunning. The vintage furniture and decor mixed with more modern touches made us feel immediately at home! We enjoyed the pool area very much as well! And the location was perfect as well. Being able to see the boats on the Canal du Midi from the living room makes the house even more cozy and amazing. We will definitely come back soon! Thank you.
Thank you for a delightful week in a truly charming cottage. Even if the weather was a wee bit shy about showing the sun the house more than made up for it with its character. The 2 restaurants in the village are excellent! (Remember a torch if you're coming after dinner!). Sarlat on a Wednesday (market day) well worth a visit. Saint-Léon is a pretty place with a big choice of "eateries". Lascaux IV is interesting and well presented.! Many thanks Caterina and Steve!
The house is a magical island setting in the countryside, with a wonderful rural and secluded ambiance. The size and comfort are simply perfect. I loved the morning runs in nature and the breakfasts on the terrace. Carelle and her husband are warm and supportive owners. The three dogs present themselves from time to time as friendly travelers. A great experience.
Second stay in this magnificent house, it is still such an enchanting place. The nature of course is splendid but the interior space and the layout are really of high quality. The rooms are particularly spacious, the bedding is perfect, the decoration combines old and new in a very harmonious way. The common areas are very well appointed, special mention for the table football in a cool lounge which the children enjoyed. The kitchen is large and stocked with more than the basics. The swimming pool is completely secure with a very handy sliding opening system. We will come back with pleasure.
Villa with indisputable view. Everything you need for cooking. Great swimming pool, lighting around it for the evening would be the icing on the cake. Sublime view. Very responsive owner and excellent arrival and departure organization. Quiet and typical village.
We could not have made a better decision than to come to Villa La Baronne to spend the end of the year. The house is magnificent, the location unbeatable both for the surroundings (the river, the forest, the small towns...) and the proximity to Toulouse. The house has the services you expect and much more. An excellent experience that I hope we can repeat again. Thanks to Isabelle and Philippe for offering Villa La Baronne guests a five-star stay. I just wanted to write to say how much we enjoyed our holiday at Les Granels. The Villa was everything we hoped it would be and beautifully equipped and an added bonus was the wonderfully stocked playroom, which as we had 5 children under 7 was an absolute joy. I would like to say that Karri was an absolute gem, efficient, full of good humour, endlessly patient with our Grandchildren who loved her so much that they cried when she said goodbye to us. She really made the holiday and enabled our rather exhausted children (their parents) to have a much needed few hours off. We are really grateful to her. The other great joy was the meals that Carol and Andy cooked for us, just in case future guests want cooking done whilst they are there.

A beautiful house and perfect for our four generation family holiday. The children loved the pool and the huge range of toys. They spent most of their time in the pool and playing with the garden toys. Beautiful rooms and everything we could possibly need provided. We enjoyed a family walk around the lake followed by an excellent lunch at the restaurant in the museum. Days out to Revel, Castres, Carcassonne and other local villages.
