5 stars are simply not sufficient when it comes to a review of this outstanding gite. A truly fabulous week starting with a warm welcome (and delicious cognac cocktail) from Mark and Gary and then the luxurious surroundings which we adored, 7 days of absolute luxury and a credit to the wonderful hosts who made our stay that extra bit special. Attention to detail is exemplary, everything you could possibly need is provided (from whisked milk for the perfect coffee and an air fryer to the hairdryers and divine smelling body wash and in the waterfall showers). The welcome hamper was a delight and Mark and Gary were the perfect hosts with excellent recommendations for dinner (Le Boule D’Or and Les Droles were excellent) and places to visit. Everything is utterly spotless (including the pool and terrace which were meticulously cleaned each day) and the beds are like sleeping in the clouds. The welcoming scent throughout is something we’ll remember at home thanks to a visit to Aubeterre to Savon Garde. We cannot fault this incredible haven of tranquility and luxury and are already planning a return visit. Thank you Mark and Gary for transforming La Charmante Distillerie to such an outstanding holiday destination, and for your hospitality from start to finish.
Best villa in 15 years of visiting France. Pool was wonderful and essential for cooling off when the temperatures exceeded 30 degrees. Super area for cycling and hiking. Best meal was at L'Aspargus (Valros) - well worth the drive. Best meals in Pézenas at Les Marronniers.
Such a beautiful house! Had a lovely relaxing holiday. Visited Sarlat, Bergerac and Périgueux - would recommend Sunday morning market in Aubeterre. Will miss waking up to the sound of the countryside.

What an amazing week in a stunning home. The house is exquisitely designed and the attention to detail is fantastic. The views are beautiful and the area so quiet and peaceful. I slept in one of the bedrooms on the ground floor and had the best night's sleep I've had for years… the mattress is heavenly. Not many people can lie in bed watching red squirrels leaping through the surrounding trees can they! The small kitchen area on the ground floor along with the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms means the whole floor can be very separate and quiet if two families were to share the house. The middle floor is a great entertaining space with a spotless and very modern kitchen with dining / living area leading out to the garden and pool. It was a real treat to have the local bar / restaurant within a short walking distance. It's very easy to sit and enjoy the local wine! The one thing I hadn't bargained for was the abundance of wildlife, although with the roads being so quiet I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised. The red squirrels and deer can be seen from the balconies and fantastic infinity pool overlooking the valley. The cushions for the outdoor furniture are very comfy. Once again, there are various areas to sit / eat and enjoy the garden if different age groups or families stay here. So to sum it all up…a fab holiday home in beautiful surroundings – 10 / 10. PS If you attempt the puzzle in the games cupboard… start it as soon as you arrive because it's tricky but irresistible!

Your Loft is superb - the best rental property we have stayed in complete with an excellent and safe swimming pool and large garden, which it was very nice to play hide and seek in. Everything was beautifully laid out with amazing attention to detail and very well equipped. We have had a great two weeks here.
Would give 10 stars if I could- wonderful stay. The house was so clean and well prepared for us. Felt luxury rustic. There was great detail put into the design. Easy communication with the owner. Great location down a picturesque street and easy to get in and out of Gordes town. Would definitely stay here again.
This house is beautiful. Well located, you can visit the entire area easily from this house. Additionally, the equipment in this house is great. Between the boulodrome, the pool and the rest, it's a good experience to share with friends or family.
We've had a wonderful week, enjoyed by all. We thought the tapas evening with Emma was great fun and well worth it, she's very knowledgable. We ended the week with lunch at Domaine Gayda, a great recommendation. We were sad to leave such a lovely home which exceeded our expectations and I would love to think that one day we could return. This is our 7th visit to the Dordogne and at least the 6th rental at "Cordeliers" Thank you Jackie and Geoff for buying this property and continuing to allow lucky people like us to stay here. We always love a long lunch at Le Vieux Logis in Trémolat, lovely drive. We stopped at Limeuil on the confluence of the Vézère Dordogne rivers to see another lovely village with a stony beach. Book a table under the plane trees in the garden, easy to book as all the reception staff speak English. This trip we visited the gardens of Eyrignac which we saw 20 years ago-much changed and lovely but Marqueyssac are still our favourite gardens with its cliff top views to Castelnaud, Beynac, Fayrac châteaux and the town of La Roque Gageac. Don't miss Lascaux IV, book online - this time we did it last minute and got in at 3.30pm English tour, great for all ages, especially the children as they get their own laptop! Buy your foie gras and confit of duck at the E Le Clerc supermarket - much cheaper and great quality, rather than paying extortionate prices in Sarlat. A lovely drive if you are interested in Bastide towns is to start in Belvès, worth a quick look for its 11th century centre and 15th covered market. Then onto Monpazier, Biron, Château Biron and finally Monflanquin, a great place for lunch (park at the top of the hill next to Église St André). Of course Rocamadour and Padirac caves are another must and if you feel like a big day out add Colonges La Rouge to the itinerary. When visiting Rocamadour, enter from the top, drive past all the parking costing 5euro or so and head to the well signposted "Le Chateau" parking which has 500 places and is free. Take the lift "Ascenseur" down into the town, buy the more expensive ticket to go all the way to the bottom of Rocamadour town, see the Sanctuaries, churches, walk up into town. Afterwards take the lift back up to the car and walk to the Ramparts. MARKET DAYS: Monday: Beynac, Les Eyzies (small one on the river) Tuesday: Le Bugue - highly recommend Wednesday: Sarlat and Saint-Cyprien Thursday: Domme and Monpazier Friday: La Roque-Gageac Saturday: Sarlat Sunday: Carnac, Limeuil and Saint-Cyprien (highly recommended) On Wednesday evenings from late June to mid August Belvès has a night food stall market which is fun, bring your own cutlery, glasses and nice plates if you don't want to eat off paper. Wine shop - an excellent wine shop, no more expensive than the supermarkets with great advice from English speakers is in Les Eyzies - Vin Blanc Rouge, 3 Ave de la Préhistoire.

If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay in Provence, we highly recommend this estate (La Bastide 1718) for 8 days to accommodate 35 people for our wedding. We had planned activities throughout the week: hiking, yoga, visiting the butterfly garden without forgetting a visit to a cellar. Our group loved it! We organized the welcome reception, the wedding ceremony, the wedding lunch, dinner and the post brunch at various locations in the Bastide. It was so magical that we thought we were in a dream. The property still has a few things to improve for event planning and long stays but Thomas was welcoming and once there everything was perfect. The wine is also delicious. We love their 10 Euro rosé and drank cases of it during our stay. Their white wines are also very, very good. Their wine is delicious and hard to find in the United States! Overall, I highly recommend staying here. It will clear your mind as you are surrounded by nature, wildlife and vineyards that stretch endlessly. We enjoyed hiking right next to the property every morning. For a city break, you are 45 minutes from the coast, 40 minutes from old Hyères, which is our favorite Provençal town and 10 minutes from a Michelin star restaurant in La Celle. We highly recommend. Their olive oil is also delicious!
Charming host. Beautiful location with magnificent views with vines and sunflowers. Perfect for running and walking. Good clean pool with covered area alongside so ideal for being in the shade. House very comfortable with all amenities including air con throughout.

The villa was just as described and was perfect in every way. We chose the villa because everything was on one level and the pool and terrace area were located very close to the main house. We had the most wonderful time and the arrangement of the bedrooms meant we had plenty of space to relax in. The BBQ area was well used. The air conditioning was welcomed during the warm Mediterranean nights. It was also the first villa we have stayed in where we were able to walk to the local town in order to buy our daily croissants. The service we had from Pure France and Philippe was exceptional. We stayed in this amazing house for a couple of weeks - 4 couples, with kids left home! The place is really hard to describe because it is so much more than we expected. Also the photos don't quite do it justice (especially the outdoors pics). It is a huge house, with several levels. All the bedrooms bar one are on one upper floor. The other bedroom (that we stayed in) is accessible on the side of the building and has a lovely little terrace with a small table and chairs. Perfect for taking in the sun or simply relaxing. I did do a bit of work there. On the lower level is the huge kitchen, big dining area with a really cool table that makes entertaining fun and loads of interesting living areas each individual and stylishly decorated. All in all it is a big place where it is easy to spend time with friends and be sociable, or retreat to one of the cosy, quirky but fantastic living spaces for me-time. We weren't quite sure what we would do there for 2 weeks as it seemed a little remote, but it is SO relaxing and welcoming we spent the first week just staying put and enjoying it. The swimming pool is great and I did my lengths every morning. The area just beyond the pool is great in the evening for a drink (or many more). The bedrooms are really special. Big and very well appointed. Comfortable beds and interesting bathrooms (ours had a built-in bath). The owner Fred is super friendly and accommodating. We were welcomed by him and his partner and to our surprise the fridge was filled with local produce and there was also some wine and fresh bread left for us! Great surprise and even better after the long drive down! For shopping we went to the closest town and there were 2 large supermarkets there as well as the usual bakeries/butchers etc. The area is very beautiful. The mountains are stunning and we found some really lovely villages to explore. We had a great dinner one night in Sauve. Really cute village well worth exploring. We ate on a square high up overlooking the river below. I could go on and on. The place has so much charm and is so well appointed, we could have stayed for longer. We have amazing memories and special thanks to Fred for having created this small piece of paradise.
We have all enjoyed staying in your magnificent Maison Richelieu. The house and village of Richelieu is a wonderful location for exploring the Loire Valley which we have all done. The décor of the maison is fantastic and we have taken ideas with us for what we can do in our own houses when we return home. Thank you again for our time here!

We stayed in Maison Rohmer for 11 nights in June and thoroughly enjoyed the house and peaceful setting at the end of a private track. Everything was very clean and well furnished with excellent bathrooms and plenty of hot water. We swam in the pool every day bar one, when there was a big thunderstorm that drenched the area and had a strange effect of gradually turning the colour of the water in the pool to green, but was perfectly ok to swim in. The owner was on hand to answer any queries we had despite being in the USA at the time of our stay, something that we both appreciated greatly. Gordes and the area around was lovely with so many beautiful towns and villages to explore on foot or bike or car, a great area of France to return to again.
Beautifully renovated Villa. Well equipped kitchen, large pool and lots of ensuite bedrooms. Has everything to keep you entertained whether it’s full sunshine or rain. The owners were super helpful and always a text away if we needed anything. Small town nearby and a big supermarket 5 minutes drive away. We would definitely stay again in the future!
Memories: The views from the house. The wind, like a freight train through the mountains! Wednesday night pizza van. Minerve – nice and quiet (La Terrasse for eats). The front shower – I want this in my house! The fridge/freezer – cold water and ice on tap – something else we'd want in our house. Lazy days by the pool with a pot of coffee and a book. Villa Lavinière has everything we needed, and more. What a lovely house. Definitely one we'd come back to and recommend to friends.
We had a wonderful holiday here in glorious Sarlat. The house is perfect with beautiful furnishings, well equipped kitchen and amazing showers. The pool was just what was needed after a long days exploring the wonderful sights of the Dordogne (Gouffre de Padirac being a highlight) The location of the house is perfect, walking distance into town yet very peaceful surrounded by a beautiful mature garden. We hope to return next year. Thank you Jackie and Geoff for a wonderful holiday.
