Fabulous home in a beautiful location This was easily one of the best holidays we have had. The house itself is beautiful, it's been refurbished to a high standard from the waterfall showers in the high spec bathrooms to the large range in the kitchen to the cosy decorating in the bedrooms. The back garden has a lovely private in ground pool to cool off in and the surrounding patio has loungers to sunbathe in and is surrounded by pretty landscaping. There are endless beaches and historic towns to visit within short driving distance but you will be equally as content not leaving the house. The village is lovely, it has a couple of pubs and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk from the house, along with boulangeries, a butchers, green grocers and a supermarket. Markets every other day in the square. The house is within a stones throw of it all which we found so handy. Terry was always available should you need any assistance and was very thoughtful and considerate, as was his housekeeper agent Paul. I can't say enough about this property, it was fabulous in every way!

Thank you for giving us two amazing weeks at your villa. The pool is one of the best we have seen and garden is just stunning. The villa is beautifully decorated and we have all found it vey comfortable. We've have two lovely weeks exploring the surrounding area, without a single minute of television! The castle exceeded all our expectations from the very first glimpse. As a family celebration of 18 people spread over 3 generations with ages ranging from 9 to 74 years, there is more than enough for everyone to do… though the pool was such a massive hit, we didn’t stray too far!! Nicky and Richard were available to answer any questions or offer advice. The private caterers they suggested for a special celebration were totally amazing. The rooms, the views (oh, those views!), the outdoor seating areas dotted around allowed for quiet reflections too. From the bbq, the fire pit, the sports hall with activities ranging from pool/table tennis/darts/ boxing bag, weights (for those inclined!), table football/badminton and more, the numerous bikes which some used to cycle the 12 minutes to the bakery for morning croissants and baguettes, to the well equipped kitchen and multiple fridges, washing machine, the magical lighting in the evening, this gem will not disappoint. It really is the epitome of a fairytale château. Such a memorable week. Well done to Nicky and Richard.

What an incredible home base! We felt so fortunate to return here every day after days spent exploring the beautiful towns of Lot and the Dordogne. We wondered whether we might find Castelnau-Montratier to be a little too quiet, but were always grateful for the respite. The house and its quiet luxury hiding behind the unassuming little gate was a constant surprise to us and we loved every minute. Many thanks to Barbara for quickly responding to our every query. We are already wondering when we'll return! P.S. Viking chess is our new favourite game!

The villa proved to be the perfect home for the week, as it ticked so many boxes:- A friendly villa owner who spoke good English, a ten minute stroll to the beach and restaurants, five minute walk to Cros de Cagnes station where you can take the local train to Cannes in 24 minutes and Nice in 15 minutes - so no need to have the hassle of car hire, a well stocked supermarket a 10 minute walk away, within walking distance of the free bus up to the beautiful hilltop village of Haut de Cagnes. A clean, well furnished villa, with every room having individual controls for the air conditioning settings... lovely when you come in from a hot day out! Ice on tap from the huge fridge and a swimming pool at just the right temperature - day and night.
We've had a great time and we’ve especially enjoyed the pool, as the temperature has barely dropped below 30°C day or night for the week due to the canicule. Our favorites: Best boulangerie: Andralie in Monflanquin, just beyond the Gendarmerie on the road to Villeneuve. There is an Auchan hypermarket just beyond on the same road. Best market: (Sunday) Issigeac. Best night for: Sarlat (Wednesday's), Le Bugue also good (Tuesday's). Best for a visit and potter: Monpazier – old, beautiful and floral. Lots of artisan shops and a long fort (Château Biron). Also, fabulous marché nocturne in Tournon d’Agenais on Friday. We ate from (Gyp?) and enjoyed watching Olympics in cool shady areas.
It is the perfect vacation home and the family had a great week. The lovely, clean, well facilitated house, the private pool with the view, the beautiful village in walking distance - all the right ingredients for a great time in this area. Thank you.
We are all having the most idyllic time here in your beautiful home - it is just perfect and so beautifully and tastefully presented - the weather is incredible and the pool in full use - we have visited Ilsle sur la Sourgue, Châteauneuf du Pap and the surrounding villages which are all charming - so all very well!

What a gorgeous week we've had here ! Annie and John have been so welcoming - inviting us for a much-needed glass of wine on our arrival. Not to mention all the helpgul local knowledge and information. We have loved the pool, sunshine and glorious garden. We would recommend the lovely Piglet Barn and Annie and John especially. We have had a fantastic week on holiday. This house is in an amazing position with panoramic views in all directions. Enjoyed cooking and relaxing in the pool. Thank you for this great stay. The pool was warm, but the rosé was very cold. Bélaye is the most beautiful city in the world, visiting Montcuq was resplendent. We will leave here rested and recharged. 5/5

Extremely comfortable and stylish accommodation in renovated old buildings. Beautiful pool area a short walk from self-catering accommodation. Very quiet, perfect for families and couples. A short walk to Montsoreau for morning baguette and a small grocery. This place has everything; comfortable beds, good Wi-Fi and kitchen facilities. Great location in the Loire Valley for sightseeing or relaxing beside the pool.
We had a fantastic and relaxing holiday at Maison Carel - we loved the house and the pool. We will definitely be looking at your properties for next summer. Thanks again for a such a smooth process and Pure France's help from start to finish.
Just to say that the property was outstanding and we thoroughly recommend it to other families. It was great for young children and having a bathroom with each bedroom was exceptional.
First visit was in 2010 for two weeks in May. This one-week revisit was a long-delayed family Christmas holiday. The house is charming, well-maintained and comfortable. The location is perfect for walking to local cafes and restaurants, shops, the amazing Saturday market and in-town sites of historical and architectural interest. Outside town, just 15 to 30 minutes by car are numerous chateaux, gardens, museums, prehistoric sites with cave paintings and more. So much to do and then a lovely place to come home to. Jackie was a wonderful host.
