This beautiful, secluded cottage is in the grounds of a historic house, both of which have been painstakingly restored by our hosts. It contains all you could need for a self-catering holiday, although there is an excellent local restaurant in the village, only five minutes walk away and others in local villages. The large private swimming pool is an added bonus. We used this as the base for a week's exploration of the Dordogne. Thonac is plum in the middle of the historic / pre-historic area of the Dordogne; the caves of Lascaux, famous for the pre-historic cave paintings, are just down the road and there are numerous ancient cave settlements nearby. A little further away, you can visit the castle at Castelnaud and its fascinating collection of ancient weaponry. We also ventured as far afield as Périgueux and Rocamadour, carrying out an in-depth investigation of the local cuisine as we went. To cap it all, Caterina and Steve are wonderful welcoming hosts, more than happy to chat about the history of the property and potential outings in the local area and keen to make sure their guests have everything they need. Highly recommended. Finally, I would like to thank you and everyone at Pure France for the excellent service you have provided this year and am looking forward to another successful year with you.
The property is out in the countryside and provided a very welcome quite location for a relaxing vacation. We stayed here during early August. The property has character, built in traditional stone and has extensive grounds to explore. There is a wonderful view of the Château de Biron from the front of the property. The château is well worth a visit and if you climb to the top you can pick out the property in the distance. The pool is fantastic and we spent many hours by and in the pool. We had great fun playing water volleyball. The house has all amenities that you want, although the Wi-Fi can be slow, but this has to be expected out in the country as I explained to my children! If staying here in the summer, take a walk just before sunset, out the drive and turn left. Just down the road you will catch some great sunsets and you are likely to see lots of deer at the same time. Visit Monpazier a few miles away. It's a great place to find a restaurant and wonder around this beautiful bastide town.
We had an absolutely wonderful week at Maison D'Aze. It is a very special house with fantastic views over the valley. The pool is amazing.
A house where you feel absolutely at home! Fully and tastefully furnished in a beautiful environment. Visited many places, recommendations are: the caves of Limousis , city of Carcassonne and the suspension bridge in Mazamet . The weekly market in Olonzac , wonderful! Then in the evening on the beautiful terrace enjoying the view of the Pyrenees with snow on the peaks and the children in the pool. Highly recommended, we will definitely go back ! We are jealous of your house!
We've had a wonderful week, lounging by the pool, playing table tennis and pool. All great for teenagers. Vinsobres so lovely and only minutes away. Good trips out to Vaison-la-Romaine and Nyons. Thanks for a great week!
We have had a brilliant stay - The villa is fantastic- kids have spent house in the pool and learning to play pool. Everyone has enjoyed it so much it feels a real wrench to leave. Hope we can visit again some time.
All of us have had a lovely holiday - so relaxing! Much reading, drinking wine, lying in the sun and swimming. Absolutely perfect! We went to Carcasonne which is stunning, but it was unbelievably hot! (and the whining children not the easiest!) Thank you - It's a great house. And we echo all the above sentiments. It has been perfect week of pure relaxation - the owner is absolutely right when he says that there is no very good reason to leave the house - we managed an afternoon in the Montagne Noir - stunning views especially from Saissac. The house is perfect for all of us. A huge thank you to the owners for making it so good.

Another wonderful week in beautiful surroundings with lovely hosts. Very hot weather but the pool was great and the fans in the bedrooms kept us cool at night. The bird count was up to its usual standards, we spotted 21 species we specially love the hoopoes. Very interesting planting and inspirational for our garden at home ! We will be back !
We had a fabulous time staying in this very stylish and well equipped house, enjoying both the heat wave and the incredible storm. We loved the swimming pool and the pool and table tennis tables. We visited Vaison la Romaine and Avignon and enjoyed both of them. The market in Nyons was very impressive and very busy, so it was worth going early. We loved eating at the resto des arts in Nyons particulary enjoying the ravioli. Thank you for letting us stay at your lovely house it is quite stunning.
What a delight! The two bedroom cottage was very spacious and comfortable - actually seemed bigger than the photos depict. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and supportive and had a genuine interest in making our stay as enjoyable as possible, from recommendations and help with reservations at wonderful local restaurants, to suggestions for local sites to visit, to making sure we were comfortable when we experienced some inclement weather. We would love to return and highly recommend this unique property to anyone planning to spend time touring the gorgeous Dordogne area.
We are finally home and now reflecting on happy memories of our wonderful holiday in France and particularly our 10 nights spent here. Where do we begin to ever thank you for all that you did and for making our holiday so special. We felt like we had our own personal butler looking after us throughout our stay. Even prior to our arrival we welcomed the emails, the ease of booking and then promptly replying to any query that we had , as well as the phone call to offer help and support the week before we were scheduled to arrive. We really appreciated the welcome basket of goodies and all the other little things that you had thoughtfully put in the fridge, making our arrival into the gîte a very warm and welcome one. Your 'blood, sweat and tears' have truly paid off as we could see the attention to detail that has gone in to making this a luxury gîte for your guests. We noticed the quality of furnishings and fittings, bed linen, sumptuous soft towels and then separate towels laid out for us by the pool, all of which made for an exciting stay ahead! The beds were extremely comfortable and accompanied by the peace and tranquility at night meant we both woke each morning feeling fully refreshed! We particularly enjoyed our time spent around the swimming pool and also using the outdoor kitchen/BBQ. Everything was spotlessly clean and we know that you ensured the pool area was cleaned down for us every morning. We were blessed with good weather too. The views from the terrace were stunning and we never tired from sitting there overlooking the local Cuzorn area and the valley beyond. It was a pleasure getting to know you and hearing about your journey from Essex to Lot-et-Garonne. For us, as first guests it was a privilege staying at Lasserre and we will be talking about you and our holiday for years to come. I equally hope that for you and Kate your first guests did not let you down and we have left a wonderful impression on you too! We sincerely hope that you are rewarded for the fruits of your labour and whilst we would like you to have a busy season, just secretly we would like to keep this little bit of heaven purely for us!
We absolutely loved our stay at Château Des Grillauds. It was the pinnacle of our European vacation this summer. This property is full of character, well equipped and comfortable with lots of bedrooms and space. We loved the location with very good local markets almost every day and it is within an hour of Bordeaux and notable vineyards as well as being very central in the Dordogne district. Our kids loved the pool which was heated and kept at 30 °C. We would recommend this property to anyone. Thank you so much.
We have just finished a very relaxing and enjoyable two week stay in Mas Saint-Martial. The house was very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. The garden is large with plenty of shade to enjoy when the weather is warm. The pool is one of the nicest we have enjoyed in any of gites we have stayed at in France. Long enough to swim for exercise and comfortably warm. The owners live in the adjacent building and were very welcoming and able to advise about local shopping, restaurants, but not at all intrusive. This is a quiet corner of rural France, but there was plenty to see and visit locally, with easy access to bakery and shops and good restaurants nearby. Some of the best value was the lunch in the local restaurant in Saint Martial.
Almost a month of rest at Château Seyches, enjoying the serenity and silence of the countryside. We love old stones, which tell a piece of French history and Château Seyches did not disappoint us. We were very happy to spend our holidays and to relax here thanks to the silence of the countryside. All the best.
Beautiful house with pool, nice and private yet a short walk into the centre of Sarlat. The house is very well equipped and cosy for those days when the weather didn’t play ball! The surrounding area has so much to offer. We will be back. We had a wonderful family vacation in your beautiful house. We will definitely be back. Sun, river, pool, food, canoes! What more do you need... Oh and wine!
We are now travelling to the Loire after spending a lovely week at Les Faures. After an initial couple of cloudy days, the weather turned out to be beautiful. We very much enjoyed exploring the area. We went canoeing at Pessac and went to the beautiful Château de Carbonneau. We also really enjoyed Le Gensake. Thank you for letting us stay at your lovely house.
Our 2nd visit to Mas de Lozanne and it certainly didn't disappoint. The extreme heat curtailed some outings, but the pool area was a haven! We still managed daily coffees in Café d'Art and a couple of early evening drinks. We made good use of the barbecue. Pezanas keeps on giving and this house, nestled in the vines, is a delight! Where do I start?! Truly one of the most amazing places we’ve ever stayed. The property sits in a stunning location with beautiful mountain views yet is just a short drive from Limoux which offers everything you might need. It’s also a very easy and short drive to Carcassonne with all of its shops and attractions (and international airport). Close to beautiful Mediterranean coastline, the rugged Montagne Noir and the wonderful Pyrenees, there are too many amazing sights to list (or to see in one holiday)... if you can drag yourself away from Domaine de Nérige that is. The property itself is far beyond adequate description in words or photographs. It is utterly magical. Every aspect of the house itself and the experience it offers has been carefully and lovingly thought through by the hosts and the result is exceptional. It’s certainly not easy to achieve both elegance and comfort but they have, masterfully. As well as being entirely beautiful, the accommodation is impressively spacious- we stayed as two families over five of the bedrooms, but had we filled all bedrooms it would have felt no less spacious because of its clever and generous arrangement. It’s perfectly appointed, with an incredible kitchen with every gadget and utensil you could possibly want, an outdoor dining area with gas bbq and hot plate, luxurious towels and linen (including towels for the pool), music player, DVDs, outdoor games (table tennis, swing ball, table football, pétanque), pool table room and then there’s the swimming pool! An immaculately kept pool terrace with sun loungers, wooden pergola and even an outdoor shower. The swimming pool was fabulous for adults and children alike, being large enough for swimming lengths but also with a shallow end for the children. Kept as meticulously as the rest of the property, the pool is cleaned every morning. The hosts could not have been more helpful and welcoming from beginning to end. Due to travel disruptions we had to change the dates of our stay several times and the hosts were so accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Before we arrived Sandie had even arranged to do a grocery shop for us! She was also kind enough to arrange for a therapist to come to the house during our stay so we could have a much needed massage! I think it’s indicative of just how special this place is that everyone in our party fell entirely in love with it, children and adults alike. We can’t wait to go back.
