We had a wonderful time and are seriously thinking of same house for next year.
The villa is located on the edge of Le Somail, a very, very quiet place just 3 minutes from the Canal du Midi. The villa is extraordinary! It even seemed smaller in the photos, but it’s actually very spacious. Well laid out, with separation between the sleeping area of the 4 bedrooms (each with its own bathroom/WC) and the living room. All rooms are air-conditioned. The outdoor area with the pool is excellent. No overlooking neighbors, and the pool gets sun almost all day! (It is cleaned twice a week). Lily and her mother, who welcomed us, were pleasant, helpful, and very responsive.
Merci bien! Thank you for letting us share your beautiful home. We have lazed around the pool and stunning gardens, played badminton and bought more shuttlecocks! We managed to see our friends in Brinon-sur-Sauldre, visited Saumur (seen the Château and fireworks for Bastille Day) and managed a dinner locally too. Thank you for your fabulous hospitality. (We have also watered the little pots near the garden door, everyday, the flowers in and out of the house have been stunning!) Merci bien and au revoir!
Just a note to say how much we enjoyed staying in Villa Pey de la Salle and it had everything we needed, including a lovely view!

We had a wonderful stay, the house is very large, designed perfectly, very comfortable and recommended for anyone who loves peace and quiet in a perfect setting. The local town Monsegur is a very short car ride away, or a 20 minute walk. A few lovely shops and restaurants welcome you here. If you love nature there are some excellent walks amongst the grapevines and natural walkways. Evening dining at the house is wonderful as there is a large outdoor space by the private pool. The pool is 10 mtrs and recently installed. Aircon to cool the bedrooms before bedtime makes for a comfortable nights sleep. We have holidayed in this area of France almost 20 times but this accommodation is the best that we have had. All together a perfect, luxurious place to stay, attention to detail here is excellent, Christophe is the perfect host.

This house is even better than we remembered it - we feel so relaxed and at home here.
This is the second time we had spent time at this property so we were a bit more familiar with area. I struggle to think of a better location to holiday than this area of Provence, it has everything, beautiful countryside, restaurants, vineyards and historic villages. One eats outside all the time as the evenings are warm and balmy and in this respect this property is blessed with a superb view looking across the valley to Vaison-la-Romaine and the Dentelles in the distance. There is complete privacy with the nearest neighbour being a considerable distance from the house. Inside the house is spacious and beautifully laid out contrasting with its former farmhouse origins. If you want relaxation but with loads to do in the area then I really cannot think of a better place to stay for a summer holiday.
Another lovely holiday spent in this area. The house was all we needed, just as the photos and descriptions had shown. The standard of the house and grounds were fantastic. Often in France the pools may be a little walk away from the house/outdoor living areas but this was a fantastic layout for all to enjoy all day and evening. The pool was the best part, fantastic condition and provided hours of fun for kids and adults alike as did the games room. The house was very spacious and all facilities/equipment provided were ideal. The little walk into the village across the fields for our morning bread and cakes and the close proximity to Duras and Eymet (the towns we enjoy visiting) meant this was a great location.
First things first - Karen, Russell and the girls (Mack and Mabel) are wonderful hosts. Warm, friendly, thoughtful and yet discreet. They love what they're doing and it shows as nothing is too much trouble. Their enthusiasm for their ventures (current and future) is infectious. Secondly is the 'Loft du Vigneron' - a fabulous property offering everything - and more - that you could hope for. Karen and Russell's sense of style has been imprinted on it and their attention to detail has left nothing wanting. Every comfort has been considered from the fabulous welcoming pack to 'The White Company' range of toiletries. The terrace was our favourite place with the sun streaming through the roof and the warm breeze cooling us down. Rieux-Minervois is a typical French village and perfectly situated to explore the entire Minervois region from Carcassonne in the West, East to the Mediterranean, and all the lovely historical villages North and South. In conclusion, we had a fabulous stay in a wonderful property with the perfect hosts - highly recommended without hesitation. Our very best wishes for every success in you new venture. This is my second visit to the beautiful ‘Rusty Shears gite’ hosted by Kirstie and Russell. From the outset our stay was just perfect. We were made very welcome and even had welcome drinks upon arrival. This was a special visit for my mums birthday and Kirstie even baked a cake, which was absolutely delicious. The gite is immaculately presented and the interior is simply gorgeous, with sumptuous cushions, uniquely bespoke painted furniture and house plants that compliment the gite’s luxurious eclectic style. The outside space is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine and listening to the nature that surrounds the outside space. They have thought of everything; an outside eating area, complete with overhead sails to stay in the shade, corner sofa area complete with parasol to stay in or out of the shade, a bbq area with small outside prep area, hot tub and even 4 sun loungers. The location is set in the countryside so expect to drive or cycle to the local vineyards and restaurants but rest assured Kirstie and Russell can recommend plenty of places of interest and even arrange cycle hire or restaurant bookings if preferred. All in all a really tranquil long weekend away that offered us plenty of tasty local food, vineyard visits, rest and relaxation in the sunshine. If you’re an animal lover then you’ll also appreciate Kirstie’s love of animals too and if you’re lucky you’ll get to taste a freshly laid egg from ’Cluckingham palace!’ A truly wonderful space and warm welcome that will encourage you to return. A gem of a holiday find - we will definitely be going back soon! Thank you Kirstie and Russell for your hospitality during our stay at Rusty Shears gite and for making great memories!
Just a short note to say how much my wife and I loved our stay at Les Faures in France last September. We were amazed and delighted at the size of the house with its many rooms and amenities, as well as the mood of relaxation in the beautiful setting which we were able to enjoy while there for two weeks. We enjoyed the large pool area and the expansive grounds, but we particularly loved the quiet and privacy of the country setting, but still near enough to the small local villages, with interesting cafes, markets and old buildings – just right for local drives to explore the beautiful area. So many exciting features - we would give this property a 5 out of 5!
What a total haven from the pressures of normal life. Hope to be back next year!
We are back again! Thank you so much Jackie and Geoff, we had the most fantastic stay again. The house was beautiful and the pool was perfect. We spent 99% of the time outside. Drinks at Le Pub and dinner at plenty of new restaurants! No car needed. Thank you!
You have transformed this building into the most wonderful house and more than that, into a welcoming and comfortable home, in which we feel privileged to have been guests. Thanks for the welcome pack of wine, water and coffee. The house is excellently located to explore the old town of Pézenas. Check out the Saturday market, it's incredible. The house and pool are great, comfortable and well laid out.
WHAT A PLACE! The Loft has everything you could possibly hope for - homeliness, elegance, well-equipped, clearly well-cared for, and such gracious hosts; we simply could not have hoped for more. Thank you for all your hospitality, and for providing breakfast on our first day which was an exceptional touch. All the information you have provided has been spot-on, and we can only hope for the opportunity to return to try more of the restaurants (and the wines). From pool days to skydiving and hedgehog rescue, this holiday will live long in the memory - even the techno DJ set in Carcassonne thumping through our dinner, as they dropped the bass during our hors d’oeuvres, made us laugh!
We spent two weeks here last summer with 4 adults and one child. The accommodations are first rate and the house well air conditioned. The AC was very important to us as we are accustomed to it in the hot summers and it made such a BIG difference. The pool and environment very secluded and very clean with pool service provided. We loved the outdoor terrace and spent every evening viewing the stars and morning coffees were enjoyed every day, too. Interiors lovely and kitchen we'll-equipped. We are so looking forward to staying here again with our friends from the UK who are happy to join us again. Delightful soujourn and a short walk to town for our daily bread and Friday markets are a big event. You should not miss staying here if you get the chance; we have stayed elsewhere and this is the best. Oh... Wi-Fi works and is always an essential for us wherever we travel in the world.

We really enjoyed our stay in your house and wished we could have had more time. We spent most of our time in the garden, under the oak tree or at the swimming pool. The evenings are absolutely marvellous with the typical Provence colours and smells. It must be a great place also to spend some time in the winter. At that time it will be probably more time spend inside the house which is beautiful as well and very nice decorated.
We had a lovely stay at the property. Everything was as expected and more. The owners, Benedict and Pierre Balteau were very friendly and welcoming. We look forward to staying here again next time we visit the Languedoc, Occitanie and will certainly be recommending this property to our friends and family. Maison de Saint-Jean is beautiful and very well equipped. We've had a wonderful holiday. Enjoyed the spectacular views. The pool was fab and our boys loved it!
We were a family of seven adults and spent a wonderful week at Challignac. Mark and Gary truly are superb hosts. The gite was beautifully presented and immaculately clean. Everything you could possibly need had been thoughtfully provided — including luxurious liquid shower soap, so no need to bring your own. The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, with every utensil and appliance you might require. And if something wasn’t there, Mark and Gary were more than happy to provide it! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a generous selection of cheese, meats, bread, snacks, wine, beer, soft drinks, tea, and coffee — a perfect welcome that meant we didn’t have to rush out to the shops. The pool area was simply divine: a stunning heated pool surrounded by tons of outdoor seating and a brilliant outdoor kitchen. Everything was set up for relaxation and enjoyment. Although the weather gods weren't entirely on our side, we made the most of it by exploring local villages and larger towns. We enjoyed some fantastic meals at restaurants recommended by our hosts. All in all, everyone had a jolly good time, and we will most definitely return. A massive thank you to Mark and Gary!

We loved the setting, location and character of this beautiful house which we feel could tell many interesting stories (... if only walls could speak!). Our boys loved the pool and made great friends with the friendly tortoise. R. favours the name 'Toby' and B. likes 'Edouard'. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch for my birthday at Bistro Maritime and looking forward to dinner at Bistro Pharell for our last evening. Great days out exploring St-Émilion-Libourne. A great trip by train (so easy) to Bordeaux. The bassin de lumière is amazing if you have a wet day. We also loved watching the Mascaret from the house - so glad we were here on the 'right' day.
