This is my second visit to the beautiful ‘Rusty Shears gite’ hosted by Kirstie and Russell. From the outset our stay was just perfect. We were made very welcome and even had welcome drinks upon arrival. This was a special visit for my mums birthday and Kirstie even baked a cake, which was absolutely delicious. The gite is immaculately presented and the interior is simply gorgeous, with sumptuous cushions, uniquely bespoke painted furniture and house plants that compliment the gite’s luxurious eclectic style. The outside space is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine and listening to the nature that surrounds the outside space. They have thought of everything; an outside eating area, complete with overhead sails to stay in the shade, corner sofa area complete with parasol to stay in or out of the shade, a bbq area with small outside prep area, hot tub and even 4 sun loungers. The location is set in the countryside so expect to drive or cycle to the local vineyards and restaurants but rest assured Kirstie and Russell can recommend plenty of places of interest and even arrange cycle hire or restaurant bookings if preferred. All in all a really tranquil long weekend away that offered us plenty of tasty local food, vineyard visits, rest and relaxation in the sunshine. If you’re an animal lover then you’ll also appreciate Kirstie’s love of animals too and if you’re lucky you’ll get to taste a freshly laid egg from ’Cluckingham palace!’ A truly wonderful space and warm welcome that will encourage you to return. A gem of a holiday find - we will definitely be going back soon! Thank you Kirstie and Russell for your hospitality during our stay at Rusty Shears gite and for making great memories!

Spacious, pretty and very well located house! We had a great week in your accommodation! Host attentive and available to answer questions. Accommodation next to the house (the atelier) is very good when two families stay, each has their own autonomy with their own personal space. We recommend this house without hesitation!
Great stay! We were 10 and loved our week Le Mas de Combet. Swimming pool, bar, large kitchen, living rooms, bedrooms with private bathrooms. Everything was perfect, clean, in line with the photos and the host was great in their communication and advice. Definitely won over for future reunions with friends. Amazing stay for our 10-people holidays. From the house to the host everything was perfect. Thanks a lot.

Lovely holiday home. This was the first time we had stayed in this area of Perigord. The house was fantastic, very large for 4 people and had a really good swimming pool. The house is only 2 km from the river which is also lovely to swim in. There is also a lake nearby at Grolejac as well if you prefer that. The property is in a quiet but central location with numerous beautiful towns to visit nearby (e.g. Domme and Sarlat) and lots of activities to enjoy. We had a great 2 week holiday here!
Thank you! We have spent a glorious week at The Loft, which feels like a home away from home. You have been fabulous hosts, and your suggestions of places to visit and vineyards to try have been spot on. After ‘confinement’ in Paris for many months, the pool was a joy. We love the garden and it’s shady spots and enjoyed Mack and Mabel’s company. We can see why people return to this wonderful place, and we hope to be one of them very soon. Thank you again for such a lovely stay.
We rented this home in December 2022/January 2023 and highly recommend it for families or large groups. Due to the time of year. we were concerned about the heat but all of the rooms were more than adequately heated. Additionally the fireplace in the living room produced a very warm, cozy atmosphere. We were 8 adults and 4 children (ages 5, 3, 3 and 1) and everyone had enough space. The children especially enjoyed playing with all of the toys in the playroom which allowed the adults to socialize in the living room just next to it and still keep an eye on them. It was perfect for everyone! The children also enjoyed playing outside in the fully enclosed yard. The pool was closed for the season but it, too, is fully fenced making it safe for the children to play outside with minimal supervision. The kitchen has a beautiful gas and electric stove as well as a wood burning stove and the back terrace has a barbecue which we used often. The kitchen table seats 8 comfortably but we were fortunate to have some warm days and could eat on the large table on the back terrace. All of the bedrooms are good sized and well appointed and each had individual heating units. The beds were all comfortable with clean, crisp linens. In addition to the half bath on the main floor there were three large bathrooms conveniently located between bedrooms with large soaking tubs and it was more than enough for our large group. The exposed beams and stonework throughout the home was gorgeous and each room was well decorated yet comfortable – we didn’t feel we needed to worry about the children breaking anything. The internet and Netflix were consistently reliable for anyone who is trying to work while on vacation. Finally, dishwasher and washer and dryer made for easy living.! Communication with the host was exceptional and checking in and out was very easy. We can’t say enough about this wonderful gem. We had a relaxing time, did a few hikes, visited some local sites as well as nearby vineyards. We would love to come back and would definitely recommend it to family and friends!”
Lovely private pool and terrace with comfortable accommodation in a picturesque village. Hosts were discrete but friendly and very helpful. The restaurant a short stroll away is definitely worth a visit. Nice walks on the doorstep.

Very nice stay at the Palaisienne. The house is well equipped, pretty, clean and above all very suitable for children, so nothing but happiness for parents. The owner is very kind and available for all our questions. We only have to thank you for this wonderful vacation.

Having been to multiple self-catering houses across Southern France over the 20 or so years, we thought we had a fair idea of what to expect. This blew all the others out of the water! The pictures provided here do not do it justice. A converted barn, it has been beautifully restored and is kept in immaculate condition. Perfectly equipped for any family, come rain or shine, we felt at home on arrival. On cloudier days there was more than enough room for us all to be comfortable inside when finished sightseeing. Brand new kitchen appliances and utensils made cooking a pleasure, whether inside or on the barbecue provided. Stunning vista from the decked outside eating area, looking out across the local bastide towns provides a great backdrop - with sun at breakfast and evening shade perfect for aperitifs. The garden is beautiful, with aromatic French lavender really setting it off. But the pool was the star, with its salt water and gentle warmth giving it a luxurious, bath–like feel. Its generous proportions meant there were 5 of us comfortably bobbing about in it at times... in all honesty, that was where we spent most of our time! It's not an exaggeration to say that this house made our holiday - we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone travelling to the region, as it truly takes the stress out of self-catering.
Thank you for letting us stay once again. I wish I could stay longer! I love playing in the garden - it makes me feel really happy because it has lots of space to play in. Sam has really enjoyed roaming around and playing with Mack and Mabel - I have too. Hopefully to see you soon in October and definitely next summer.
What a memorable time we had with friends along with my 5 years old daughter at the château. The owners are friendly and extremely generous, beautiful adorable dogs, my daughter is fond of them. The castle is rustic French style property with large windows directly opens to garden space and pool, the property is huge enough for every day walk, lush greens, canals, peaceful at the same time. The furniture and tapestry are well selected and stored beautifully. It’s a combination of modern comfort meets rustic luxury one could dream of. 5 - 10 minutes drive to local markets, boulangerie for delicious French breads. Amazing Safari zoo, my daughter and we had a great time. Great seas face restaurants are close by and a must visit. A perfect gateway to celebrate with your family, friends and loved ones.

Thank you for a fabulous two weeks at the Loft! The house is lovely and has been fitted out with everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen was a dream to cook in and the bathrooms were like staying in a 5 star hotel! However, our stay was made truly complete by your wonderful warm hospitality. It would not have been the same without your superb hosting skills! Lastly, thank you for letting the girls play with Mack and Mabel - it was definitely a high on the list of things they are going to miss after leaving the Loft. You've even cured their fear of dogs! This is a beautiful, fully modernised house in a lovely friendly village. A well designed spacious house over two floors with a large balcony from the modernised kitchen and lounge overlooking the pool and views of the surrounding areas The property is perfect for lazing by the pool and is Ideally placed for trips to many nearby beaches and to the cities of Narbonne, Béziers and Montpellier.
If we could give more than 5 stars we would!! This place was beautiful, everything was pristine, stylish, good quality and the house itself was spacious. Gaëlle and Etienne were incredibly hospitable, lovely people and easy to communicate with. Was such a pleasant stay!
Totally loved the week that we had here! The pool was really private and if your after a pizza then visit Le Yacca, the best pizzas in the world! (in Pézenas). Enjoy your stay.

A wonderful first week to our holidays. The house is wonderfully renovated and has everything a family can wish! 5 stars are simply not sufficient when it comes to a review of this outstanding gite. A truly fabulous week starting with a warm welcome (and delicious cognac cocktail) from Mark and Gary and then the luxurious surroundings which we adored, 7 days of absolute luxury and a credit to the wonderful hosts who made our stay that extra bit special. Attention to detail is exemplary, everything you could possibly need is provided (from whisked milk for the perfect coffee and an air fryer to the hairdryers and divine smelling body wash and in the waterfall showers). The welcome hamper was a delight and Mark and Gary were the perfect hosts with excellent recommendations for dinner (Le Boule D’Or and Les Droles were excellent) and places to visit. Everything is utterly spotless (including the pool and terrace which were meticulously cleaned each day) and the beds are like sleeping in the clouds. The welcoming scent throughout is something we’ll remember at home thanks to a visit to Aubeterre to Savon Garde. We cannot fault this incredible haven of tranquility and luxury and are already planning a return visit. Thank you Mark and Gary for transforming La Charmante Distillerie to such an outstanding holiday destination, and for your hospitality from start to finish.
